American Idol never listens to my genius suggestions!

Because I am sick and should be sleeping, instead I have discovered all of the #1 songs on the dates of birth of the remaining American Idol contestants. Tonight's theme is "Music from the year you were born," I am told, so I thought I would use the ol' This Day in Music machine to pick songs for the would-be Idols:

  • Paris Bennett (September 23, 1988) - "Don't Worry, Be Happy" by Bobby McFerrin
  • Katharine McPhee (March 25, 1984) - "Footloose" by Kenny Loggins
  • Chris Daughtry (December 26, 1979) - "Escape (The Piña Colada Song)" by Rupert Holmes
  • Elliott Yamin (July 20, 1978) - "Shadow Dancing" by Andy Gibb
  • Taylor Hicks (October 6, 18761976) - "A Fifth of Beethoven" by Walter Murphy & The Big Apple Band

Awesome. I'm sure my version of American Idol would be better than the one that will be on tonight. I'd love to see Chris trying to Fuelerize the Piña Colada Song straight from the gut with extreme passion and emotion and Taylor spazzing out while trying to sing an instrumental piece.

I would have to sing Another One Bites The Dust by Queen. But we already had a queen theme!

You're right. That would've been a better show.
